Spend the afternoon at “Malabar Farm” – the home of Gippsland Food Adventures. Paul and Jenny O’Sullivan open the gates to their family farm of 640 hectares, running 1000 cattle and 5500 sheep, near Walkerville. Experience how premium grass fed beef and lamb is produced in an environmentally sensitive way. Get close to the animals, fattened on lush pastures and explore the protected native bush.
We want you to have fun, while learning about the impacts of breeding, feeding and handling on the quality of your steaks, and understand where different cuts of meat come from and why they need different cooking methods. The tour will cover all aspects of the meat industry from production to processing.
The tour will include paddock driving, a bush walk and livestock inspections in sheep and cattle yards, so appropriate clothing and footwear need to be worn. The afternoon finishes with a platter of Gippsland produce and wine and beef tasting.
